What is the Shroud of Turin
The Shroud of Turin is a blood-stained linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. Many people believe this man is Jesus of Nazareth and the cloth is the burial sheet mentioned in the Gospels
The Shroud bears a faint imprint of the front and back of a naked man. Markings on the image indicate the man was beaten, scourged, crowned with thorns, crucified, and pierced in the side by a spear
The Shroud is widely considered to be one of the most studied artifacts in the world. Many people believe this cloth wrapped the dead body of Jesus of Nazareth, and the image resulted from his Resurrection.
